Philosophy and Specifications:

With that said, it will be our sincere pleasure and distinct honor to show you how we differ. Every product manufactured has a philosophical premise- this product can be honest to only one premise: it is either made following the path of least resistance, taking short cuts in order to make the product cheep thus inducing the consumer to buy because it costs less or, by following a more discipline approach, making the product well, thus influencing the consumer to buy on it’s merit and value. At French Custom Shutters, Inc. we adhere to the latter; it is our premise to design, manufacture and install our custom hardwood shutters to the highest standard and because you deal direct with us the manufacturer we offer very competitive pricing. Always assuring you the quality and value you want for decades to come. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Specifications: We start with kiln dried, FAS certified furniture grade Basswood. Chosen and milled specifically to meet our standards. We use a tapered louver profile for that classically styled shutter look. After cutting each louver to size each end is individually primed prior to assembly thus sealing the entire louver edge. This extra step eliminates stress fractures in the painted finish on the surface of the louver. The “industry standard” is to assemble the unfinished louvers into the shutter panel and then paint the assembly. It is impossible to seal the 1” surface of the louvers edge where it meets the inside of the shutter stile. (Using the industry standard method -enables moisture to adversely affect the finish.) Stiles and rails are joined using 3/8” fluted dowels spaced 1” on center, mechanically secured with 3” screws to lock the joint tight. Stile widths are typically 2” for panels under 28” wide, 2-1/4” up to 32” and 2-1/2” up to 42”. We can make single panels up to 48” x 144”. Panel thickness is 1-1/16” with 1-3/8” available for specific panel sizes or applications. Louver sizes are 2-1/2”, 3-1/2”, 4-1/2” and 5-1/2” and are elliptical. Fixed louver and raised panel closet doors and be made with by-fold or bi-pass track hardware or simply hinged depending on your closet ingress pattern. Custom nylon shutter friction pins have been specifically designed with a compressible flange creating tension at each louver. Louvers will never droop! All French Custom Shutters are manufactured using our exclusive staple-less tilt-rod. You will never have to struggle with replacing or finding missing staples again. (See "Facility" Gallery) We can make shutters with offset tilt-rods or without a tilt-rod for a clear-view look. Fixed louver and raised panel closet doors and be made with by-fold or bi-pass track hardware or simply hinged depending on your closet ingress pattern. Powder coated hinges are available as well as antique brass, bright brass, solid polished brass, and nickel for areas next to the ocean. All finishes are available. Sandblasting at no additional charge. Custom paint colors at no additional charge. Custom stain finishes are an additional 10%. 25 year comprehensive warranty on construction and installation. 10 year pro-rated warranty on finishes provided windows have ultraviolet protection. |
